ACID ARAB
ACID ARAB
Coming straight from the cultural melting pot that is Paris, the amazing Franco-Algerian collective was born from the meeting between Pierre-Yves Casanova, Nicolas Borne, Hervé Carvalho, Guido Minisky and Kenzi Bourras. Thanks to its irresistible mix of powerful electronic music, as well as middle eastern and Arabic sounds, the Parisian band has set stages ablaze and conquered French and international audiences alike. Aiming to create a space for Arabic culture in the world of contemporary electronic music, Acid Arab members have steadily shaped their style amidst travels and collaborations with artists from around the Mediterranean.
Following a series of compilations released as EPs on their label “Versatile”, they signed with Crammed Discs and released their impressive first album “Musique de France” in 2016. Following this release, the collective played hundreds of shows, across 50 countries and 4 continents (Dour Festival, Peacock Society, Solidays…). “Jdid”, their second album, was released by the end of 2019. Acid Arab’s eagerly awaited third album was released in February 2023. Entitled “ ٣†(Trois)”, it consists of ten bangers made not only for the dancefloor, but also for calmer listening sessions. From Algerian Gasba to Anatolian Trance, through synthetic Dabkeh, bionic Raï and many more genres, whether real or imaginary, Acid Arab has incorporated a vast panel of colors, bringing down the frontiers between genres. “Trois” would lead the band to their first Olympia, and, through a series of remixes, to an artistic encounter with major electronic music pioneers (R3HAB, KiNK, Africanism). Regularly ranked in the Electronic Charts on iTunes and with audiences worldwide, Acid Arab’s music resonates from India to the United States, and via France, Turkey, Italy…
2024 is a year marked by multiple collaborations, most importantly with French producer Yuksek, and the band Fat White Family; followed by Acid Arab’s promising signing to the new French electronic music label All Night Long. Acid Arab is announcing its come-back with “Nejri” (je cours), an up-tempo title inspired by 90s rave songs.
The new single, featuring the Franco-Algerian artiste Baida Baida, is a subversive ode to love, torn between passion and obsession.
